Through the link in our bio you will find this years lent reading program as well as last year’s as well. There you will find many books, audiobooks and readings written by our blessed church fathers. For this year’s reading program we have included “Women of the Bible: Daily Contemplations” a fasting and prayer program for this Holy Great Fast. May our Compassionate King help us to open our hearts toward Him during this fast and guide us as we enter this period of carrying our crosses alongside Him 🙏🏻✝️

Blessed Feast of the Ascension of our Lord and blessed feast of the commemoration of the departure of St. Didymus the Blind, Patron Saint of OCCM. St. Didymus stands as a remarkable figure in Coptic Orthodox tradition whose life story speaks volumes about resilience and spiritual insight. Despite losing his sight at a young age, St. Didymus rose above his physical limitations to become a beacon of knowledge and faith. Utilizing engraved
writings to learn to read with his fingers, he studied the Scriptures and became the foremost Christian scholar of the 4th century, and using said teachings, he defended the Orthodox faith.

As the dean of the Theological School of Alexandria, St. Didymus didn’t let his blindness hold him back. Instead, he embraced his thirst for learning and deepened his understanding of the Orthodox faith, becoming a mentor and inspiration to many.

Stories abound of St. Didymus’s spiritual foresight, often predicting events before they happened. Even in his encounters with esteemed individuals like Abba Antonius, his spiritual insight shone through, offering comfort and wisdom to those around him.

Rather than mourn his lack of physical vision, St. Didymus found solace in his spiritual sight, a gift from God that allowed him to perceive divine mysteries with clarity. His writings on theology and Scripture earned him the affectionate title “the seeing blind.”

As we remember him today, let’s draw inspiration from St. Didymus’s journey. May his example encourage us to overcome obstacles with resilience and deepen our spiritual connection, perceiving the presence of the divine in our lives. Through the prayers of St. Didymus the Blind, Patron Saint of OCCM, may we continue to strive towards the knowledge of God and open our eyes to His glory. 🙏🏼✝️
