OCCM is a non-profit incorporated under the Coptic Orthodox Churches of the Diocese of the Southern United States under the auspices of His Grace Bishop Youssef. Efforts to generate income for OCCM must comply with the teachings of the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria and the guidance of the Diocesan Bishop.
Our church reminds us in every Liturgy, during the Liturgy of the Word when the conclusion of the Catholic Epistle is read, to “not love the world or the things in the world. The world is passing away, and its lusts; but he who does the will of God abides for ever.” (1 John 2:15-17) Here, the will of God is not offending anyone by the actions of generating financial support or the service turns into a business, God seeks His youth, and it's our mission to be fully committed to finding and keeping His flock connected to His church which He purchased with His precious blood.
As our mission on campus expands, and our role becomes more dominant and profound, the necessary expenses will come into play. As all things in life require money to maintain and sustain, we, too as student organizations, require money to expand our mission for our fellow students. With that being said, below we have attempted to define the scope of raising funds for campus ministry organizations in our Diocese, and what associates with it and is agreed upon by OCCM. See the OCCM Guidebook & Manual for more info.
